Let me tell you-- I need these fools at Gamestop to either get some competent employees or rather ones with BETTER hearing!!! This weekend I received a text from Game Stop, reminding me that Gears of War 3 was coming out tonight. Just so you know a little bit about me, when I reserve a game,
I ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS get the Special/Collector's Edition of a video game. The MORE goodies it has in the Special/Collector's Set, the higher the chance of me getting that version. Ecstatic, I tell a bunch of friends that Im going to be getting the Epic Edition which includes:
~ Limited Edition Marcus Fenix Statue: A fine collectible PVC statue
~The Art and Design of Gears of War by Tom Bissell: concepts to the final Act of Gears of War 3
Octus award box and Octus Service Medal
~Adam Fenix multiplayer character and Infected Omen Weapon Pack: Custom multiplayer skins
~Fenix family mementos and fabric COG flag
and of course the game itself. To be honest I'm looking forward to that statue. Anyway, so I called the store to find out which one I reserved the set ( I usually toggle between the Jamaica Ave and the 71st Ave location) at and something kept nagging at me to ask which one I had reserved. And what did the rep say " You reserved the regular edition." Again, I NEVER, NEVER, NEVERRRRRRRR get the regular edition UNLESS, they DON'T have a Special/Collector's Edition set for that particular game! So at this point I'm flipping out because a a good friend of mine ordered the Epic Edition and I'm heated because I want my Epic Edition at the midnight launch!
So I asked BOTH stores if they would have any extras and the 71st Ave store said they can't sell the left over Epic Editions until 48 hours after the launch and the Jamaica Avenue store said a WEEK, because it was "SOOOOOOO SPECIAL". I took that as a code for, "
You probably shouldn't even come looking because us employees will have first dibs anyway and you won't be able to purchase any leftovers." Before you say, it was probably my mistake, I will tell you about another instance not too long ago (earlier this year)that this issue happened. It was for Mortal Kombat 9. I reserved the "Kollector's Edition" of Mortal Kombat 9 and was there at 10 pm for the midnight launch. I waited online at the 71st avenue store (same store that fucked up my Gears of War 3 order) with a friend of mine and when we got to the front-- they claimed I only reserved the regular game and NOT the Kollector's Edition. All I was thinking was, "THIS CAN'T BE LIFE!!!". So I asked the cashier, "Can you PLLLEAASSSEEEE look and see if they have an extra??" Turns out, they DID have an extra one and he sold it to me right there. Good Lord!
Through my rant, I calmed down and ordered the Gears of War 3: Epic Edition from Amazon and since Im in school, it's free two day shipping, but I'm STILL pissed. I won't be reserving ANYTHING at the 71st avenue store EVER again!
